2/6/2013 A Note from Mrs. J

An email was sent through HAC today for all three 7th grade classes. Please see the bottom of this page for the attachments posted on the email.

There is an updated syllabus for all three Social Studies ClassesAs this is only an updated version of the original syllabus, students will NOT be bringing two copies home and are not required to have it signed.

Students will receive a copy of this for their binders in class either Tomorrow or Friday, 2/8 . We will review the updated syllabus to make sure there are no quirks and if we find any, we will mark it on the copy they receive and post the changes on Classnotes.

You may print a copy of the email or documents if you wish.

Thank you,

Mrs. J

Good Evening,

Students in classes 7-1 and 7-2 have already received instructions and for their first two 2nd Trimester Essay Assignments entitled “What Should I do?” and “Knowledge is Power in class today, Thursday, 11/15/12. Each of these essays is based on the content standards covered through the Junior Achievement JA Finance Park Curriculum. Students in Social Studies 7-3 will receive this information tomorrow, Friday, 11/16/12.

1. The final copy of the “Knowledge is Power” essay will be due at the beginning of class for ALL 7th grade classes on Friday, November 30, 2012.

2. The final copy of the “What should I do?” essay will be due at the beginning of class for 7-3 on Monday, December 3rd and classes 7-1 & 7-2 will be due on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

Each student received a copy of the prompt from the JA Workbook or a printed copy from me. I will also post the prompt at the top of each of the Classnotes pages for easy viewing. The requirements for both prompts are as follows:

1.) It must be TYPED; hand written responses will not be accepted

2.) Each response must include details and specific examples whenever possible

3.) 12 point Times New Roman Font is required

4.) It must be double-spaced; not single.

5.) It must meet the following length requirements

a. 3-5 paragraphs

b. 1 page (min.) 2 page (maximum)

To complete this assignment, each student will need to reference his/her notes, classwork assignments, and quizzes/tests that have been returned from JA. They are also encouraged to find additional resources to help develop the response.

If you have any questions regarding either of these assignments, please feel free to email me.

Thank you, Mrs. J
