BOARD MEMBER JOLENE A. OUTTEN
As a paralegal for a worldwide chemical company, Jolene assits with the management of the company's North American Intellectual Property Department. She is responsible for the group's patent, trademark and contract administration, as well as the budget, office management and coordination of procedures with the company's German and Italian intellectual property offices.
After graduating from St. Mark's High School in Wilmington, Delaware, Jolene proceeded to Goldey Beacom College to complete her Associate of Arts degree. Beginning in her senior year of high school and throughout college, Jolene worked part-time for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Secretary's Office. Upon graduating from Goldey, she was promoted to an administrative assistant position within that department's Planning, Research and Evaluation Division where she continued to work until 1983.
In 1983, Jolene moved her career to the private sector and worked for the Patent Department of Hercules Incorporated. Within one year she was recruited to a Hercules joint venture company originally named Himont Incorporated as the Intellectual Property/Law department's sole support staff member. At this time, Jolene attended Widener University's Paralegal School in the evening to attain her Paralegal Certificate. Upon receiving her certification in paralegal studies in 1987, Jolene began to serve, and continued to serve as the legal assistant for Basell's (f/k/a Montell North America Inc., f/k/a Himont Incorporated) intellectual property department.
Jolene has been married for 12 years to her husband, John, an Environmental Scientist for the Air Quality section of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. They reside in Townsend, Delaware and have two children, Aaron(9) and Zachary(7). Jolene's previous volunteer positions have included Girl Scout Troop Leader, Chapter President of the Delaware City Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCs), Office of the Delaware JCs Governor's Club, and member of the Blackbird Community Center. She is also currently involved with St. Joseph's Church. Her two sons attend MOT Charter School.
