Music
During elementary school, student have learned about rhythms and movement, instruments such as the recorder, banjo and drums, and of course singing,
Middle School students can select from Choir and Band as their musical passions develop. Using the early fundamentals, students work up to community performances, music students learn to balance technical mastery with their personal artistic talents. Opportunities to develop musical skills progress with each year.
Music class gives students many diverse opportunities to explore the fun, collaborative, methods of creating music, learning a musical instrument, collaborating with classmates in a performance, or even possibly writing or arranging music for a new song.
Middle School Chorus students perform songs from a variety of genres including classical, rock and pop music while learning vocal techniques such as breathing, diction, tempo, intonation, expression and projection.
Band students work through a wide genre of musical choices, both for enjoyment as well as pieces which continually challenge them.
Students have the opportunity to perform each year at both the Winter and Spring Concerts..
Theatre
Theatre students learn the fundamentals of acting through scripted and improvisation exercises, moving from simple to more complex characters, these young actors shape and hone their craft by using a variety of physical and vocal styles to create the feelings and emotions which bring characters to life.
Rehearsals happen during the school day, which allows students to be involved who might not otherwise have this opportunity due to after-school conflicts. 8th graders also have the option of joining the Stage Crew where they help build and paint sets.
The result of all of this hard work is brought to our high school campus stage in annual performances. Recent productions include Annie, Into The Woods, Shrek and Elf.

Related Arts
Each year students rotate through courses in Related Arts, providing them the opportunity to build their knowledge and skills in new and different areas of interest. Students take Spanish, Physical Education, Wellness, and Library/Technology throughout their time at MOT, building each year on the knowledge and skills they have developed over time.
