Bus Service

All students who live within the Appoquinimink School District will be picked up and dropped off at the closest stop to the student’s home.  In most cases this is located at the front of the student’s development or the closest development.

K-8 Academy Students: who live outside of the Appoquinimink School District must be able to provide their own transportation to campus. Out of District bus service is not offered since most of this campus' student body are young children.

High School Students: who live outside of the Appoquinimink School District must be able to provide transportation at drop off and pick up times to and from one of the designated bus hub stops listed below. Please note, hub stops/times are subject to change, list provided as general reference only.

Car Riders

K-8 Academy Students - Morning Drop-off: Car riders should be dropped-off between 8:15 am and 8:23 am in front of our building. Students should only exit on the curb side of the vehicle. Students are marked late and must be signed in by a parent if they arrive after 8:25 am.

K-8 Academy Students - Afternoon Pick-up: Parents/guardians should remain in their car, waiting along the curb aligning the gym (playground side of the building) for your child(ren) to be called to your car.  If the curb along the gym is full, please wait in the back lot and pull your car up to the gym curb as directed by our staff.

High School Students - Drop-off and Pick-up: Car riders should be dropped-off between 7:15 am and 7:23 am in the circle in front of our building. Students should only exit on the curb side of the vehicle. Students are marked late and must be signed in by a parent if they arrive after 7:25 am.

PLEASE STAY AWARE AND DRIVE SLOWLY, we have students and staff on the sidewalks and sometimes walking across the parking lot in designated walkways.

Student Drivers

High School student drivers (Seniors & Juniors) who have completed all state driving requirements may be submit a Driver Permission Form. NOTE: Permission to drive to school is a PRIVLEGE granted to students in good academic standing who submit all required documents, keep parking passes on display while on campus AND adhere to the requirements as outlined by the school. Drivers who drive recklessly or do NOT follow school guidelines WILL have their driving privileges revoked.

Car Riders

K-8 Academy Campus

Student Morning Drop-off:

  • Car riders should be dropped-off between 8:15 am (when doors open) and 8:23 am in front of our building.
  • Drop off occurs along the front and south side of the building.
  • Please pull as far forward as you can in the drop off area.
  • It is imperative that no one in the drop off line exits the vehicle from the left (driver) side of the vehicle, as we often have two lanes of traffic exiting the building at the same time.
    • Children must exit the vehicle on the right (passenger) side.
    • Parents must remain in the vehicle at all times.
    • If your child needs assistance exiting the vehicle, please ask a staff members stationed on the sidewalks to help. 
    • If your child needs assistance entering the building, please park in the parking lot and a staff member at the crosswalk will assist you and your child/children across the crosswalk when it is safe to do so. 
  • Please remain in line as the vehicles move to exit the campus and follow directions of staff members directing the flow of traffic.  Traffic may be coming along the side, making it unsafe to pull out of the car rider line.
  • Any of our staff will be happy to assist you if questions arise.

Student Afternoon Pick-up:

  • Car rider dismissal begins at 3:05 pm.
  • Parents/guardians should remain in their car, waiting along the curb aligning the gym (playground side of the building) for your child(ren) to be called to your car.
  • Once the side curb is full, cars will be directed by staff to line up in rows in the back parking lot. As cars pull away from the sidewalk, the rows in the parking lot will be directed to move forward to the exit area.
  • As there is often bus traffic arriving to go around to the front of the building, it is imperative that no one enters or exits a vehicle on the left (driver) side of the vehicle.
    • Children must enter the vehicle on the right (passenger) side.
    • If your child needs assistance getting into the vehicle, please ask one of our staff members on the sidewalk to help. 
  • When your child is safely in the vehicle, you may pull out of the pick-up line. As you leave please follow staff traffic instructions and proceed slowly past the bus line to exit campus. If buses are ready to dismiss, you may be asked to wait.  
  • As always, our staff members will be happy to assist you if needed.

High School campus

Come up the school drive way, turn right in front of the building, then immediately turn right in to the front parking lot. Drive through the front parking lot to the far end, remaining in line, and when space becomes available in the front circle/fire lane, please exit the parking area by making a left and coming back to the circle. Do not park or wait in the front driveway or front circle. Drop off only in the circle.

There should only be one lane of traffic, do not pass in the circle, do not park or stop alongside another vehicle. Pull up, drop off, and drive on.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up: 

  • Car riders should be dropped-off between 7:15 am and 7:23 am in the circle in front of our building.
  • Please wait for the car ahead to leave and do not pull out and around.
    • Students should only exit on the curb side of the vehicle.
    • If your child will be delayed in exiting the vehicle, please circle around again.
    • If they need help unloading items, please park in the front parking lot and help them unload from there. 

Students are marked late and must be signed in at the office, by a parent if they arrive after 7:25 am.

Student Afternoon Pick-up: 

  • Car riders will be dismissed from the front of the building at dismissal. Please park in the front lot and wait for your child, do not wait in the fire lane.

PLEASE STAY AWARE AND DRIVE SLOWLY, we have students on the sidewalks & walking across the parking lot in designated walkways. In addition, we have STUDENT DRIVERS who may be inexperienced and learning driver etiquette.

Student Drivers

High School Campus

Student drivers MUST complete a High School Driver Permission form and return to the High School Front Office with the parking permit fee in order to obtain their parking sticker. Parking stickers MUST BE DISPLAYED and student's MUST PARK in their assigned parking spot. Failure to obtain a permit and follow student parking requirements may result in a loss of school property parking privileges.

Student Drivers - Dismissal Process & Expectations

Leaving Student Driver lot -  Do NOT enter traffic between buses, drivers should begin leaving AFTER the buses have left the lot. Exit the driveway by AG Waters field driving in front of the school building as you exit. Be careful for students crossing and parent pick-ups exiting the front circle.
